Post Mole, Skin Tag & Benign Skin Lesion Removal
Aftercare
Following the aftercare advice in this guide will help minimise the risk of complications and support the best possible healing and cosmetic outcome.
What to Expect
Following your treatment, the treated area will resemble a small superficial graze or abrasion. This is completely normal.
Mild redness, swelling and tenderness may occur during the first few days. A small crust or scab will usually develop as part of the normal healing process. Do not pick, scratch or remove the crust prematurely.
Most areas heal within approximately 5-7 days, although larger lesions or body areas may take a little longer. Once the crust naturally separates, the new skin may appear pink. This gradually fades over the following weeks to months as the skin continues to mature.
Aftercare Instructions
First 24 hours
Keep the treated area clean and dry.
Avoid unnecessary touching of the area.
If recommended by your Practitioner, apply a thin layer of your prescribed healing ointment.
During the healing period (approximately 5-10 days)
Wash the area gently once or twice daily using mild soap and water.
Pat dry with a clean towel. Do not rub.
Apply your recommended healing ointment (such as 3K+, Bepanthen or Flamigel) as directed by your Practitioner.
Do not pick, scratch or remove the crust.
Avoid makeup directly over the treated area until the skin has healed.
Avoid swimming, spas, saunas and prolonged soaking until the wound has completely healed.
Avoid harsh skincare products, exfoliants, retinoids or acids directly over the treatment area.
After Healing
Apply SPF 50+ sunscreen daily to the treated area for at least 3 months.
Minimise direct sun exposure while the new skin is maturing to reduce the risk of pigmentation changes.
If recommended by your Practitioner, scar management products such as Stratamed or Hirudoid may be commenced once the skin has fully healed.
Additional Information
Healing varies between individuals and depends on the size and location of the lesion.
Our aim is to achieve a smooth, level cosmetic result while minimising the risk of scarring. Occasionally, a touch-up treatment may be recommended once healing is complete to achieve the optimal cosmetic outcome.
